Maricel Smith — Anna & the King “I Am” Poem

I wrote this poem from one of the ligature classes that we had to present!

Anna

I am loyal and independent.

I wonder why the world has to be two different worlds?

Why not just put it into one?

I hear fireworks shooting in all kinds of directions.

I see fire up in the sky and fire in the ground.

I want to make the world into a better place.

With a unified goal to become one once again.

I am loyal and Independent.

I pretend to be someone else.

I feel depressed

I worry about what everyone else has to say about me.

I cry when I can’t make things right again.

I am loyal and independent.

I understand that the world is two different worlds.

I say “ I’m gonna make what I want to make,

and other people are gonna like what they’re gonna like,

it doesn’t really matter.”

I dream to be a changer for the world,

but I can dream of changing the world if the world has two sides.

I try to make changes for myself but everything is falling apart.

I hope someday I can change it before it is too late.
